Is the referral link really free?
Yes. Opening the link costs nothing, there is no sign-up, and this site never asks for your details. The link simply opens Tesla's own website with an owner's referral attached.
What do I get for using it?
Whatever Tesla's referral program is offering for eligible orders at the time you order. At the time of writing that is a choice of three months of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) or $400 off solar. Tesla sets the benefit, decides eligibility, and can change or pause it without notice.
What do you get out of it?
If you complete an eligible order through the link, Tesla gives me a referral benefit as the referring owner. It costs you nothing and does not change your price. That is the only way this page earns anything from Tesla.
Does a referral make the car cheaper?
No. It does not reduce the vehicle price, and Tesla's pricing is not negotiable. The benefit is added on top of a normal order.
Can I add a referral after I have ordered?
Generally not, which is why the order of steps matters. Open the link first, then configure and order in the same browser. The referral code guide walks through it.
I opened the link but do not see the referral. What now?
Open it again and stay in that same browser window while you order. Private windows, switching devices, and strict ad or tracker blocking are the usual causes. Check the order summary mentions the referral before you pay the order fee.
